Mental health treatment specialists
When we talk about problems typical of a General Psychiatry Unit (GPU), we are referring to a wide range of difficulties that range from emotional management problems and anxiety, to high-risk behaviors. In any case, we will be facing difficulties that do not allow the adolescent to carry out the activities of his daily life.

How to detect that my child suffers from discomfort?
Detecting that our son has a problem is not an easy task. In addition, it is often not easy to distinguish between a habitual practice or something very specific.
We leave you a series of symptoms to detect possible mental disorder problems.
- Feeling of anguish and high discomfort
- Outbursts of anger
- Recurring and/or unjustified crying
- Injuries to arms and other parts of the body
- Hyperactive behavior, as well as difficulty maintaining concentration
- Difficulty sleeping, nightmares, night terrors
- Tendency to isolate, difficulty getting out of bed
- Hypersexualized behavior, with the presence of risk behaviors in real life and through social networks
- Refusal to go to school, inability to stay in the center the entire school day

This disorder has nothing to do with feeling sad or in a bad mood from time to time. In fact, these disorders include:

It is one of the most common neurological disorders in childhood. However, your diagnosis may last into adulthood. People with ADHD may present:

Lack of social skills can lead to:
- Excessive shyness
- Low self-esteem
- Difficulty relating to others
- School problems

The discomfort due to the search for personal identity is that stage in which the person experiences a series of important doubts about himself.
These types of doubts cause:
- Questioning the meaning of existence
- Feeling of emptiness and loneliness
Social phobia
Also known as social anxiety disorder, social phobia causes all those daily interactions to cause us anxiety, insecurity and shame for fear of what they will say.

Sleep problems
Sleep problems are those related to sleeping. These alterations cause:

It is a behavior in which a person harms himself by causing damage to his own body. This behavior is used as an antidote to putting up with sensitive thoughts and feelings.

GPU Frequently Asked Questions
Mental health problems are the result of a sum of variables, different in each case and unknown a priori in most cases.
As biopsychosocial beings that we are, our problems are too and for them our treatment is designed to carry out a comprehensive approach:
– Approach to the biological area by psychiatry if necessary.
– Psychological approach, through group therapies and sessions
Individual and family psychology.
– Social approach, coordinated work with a reference psychologist and therapist
occupational.
It will be common for families to ask us this question. We must remind them that each case is different and has different needs and time. We cannot give an answer because we do not have one, but we do anticipate that they are processes that are longer than we want and shorter than we imagine.
It is important to remind them that we all have difficulties or a tendency to be more quiet or impulsive, for example, and your children will probably always tend to do so, but it will not always be a problem. For this they are in treatment, to control their impulses and not control their impulses.
It is important that we remove any dangerous object from the patient’s reach.
In case of self-injury: we remove the injurious object, if there is one, we check if it is necessary to go to the medical center or the cure can be done at home. In this case, it must be the patient himself who performs the cure, with our support.
It can be emotionally complicated to manage such a situation, let’s not forget that self-injury is a symptom that must be treated at a clinical level, so the indication must be to rely on the team.
