Day hospital for adolescents in Madrid and Barcelona

We are a specialized center for adolescent mental health. With more than 10 years of experience, we help young people with addiction to new technologies, eating behavior disorders, behavioral disorders, general emotional discomfort and addiction to toxic substances, as well as many other difficulties that arise at a time of change as delicate as the adolescence.

Through a multidisciplinary therapy model,, we make a comprehensive approach, that is, we work in the personal and individual, social and family sphere of the adolescent, since we know that all these aspects directly influence their well-being.

Disorders treated in the Desconect@ Program

Addiction to new technologies

Addiction and/or abuse to mobile phones, social networks and video games: we work to make good use of a tool that is very useful when used well, but when abused it becomes highly dangerous.

Video game addiction

The World Health Organization (WHO) has included video game addiction as a mental disorder. This addiction causes an increase in the desire to play and a substitution of activities to be hooked on the screen.

Behavioral disorders

They manifest themselves with problems in self-control of behavior and emotions, violating the rights of others and can lead the adolescent to major conflicts against the norms of society or with authority figures.

Eating behavior disorder (ED)

Eating Behavior Disorder (ED) is a disease with serious consequences for the physical and psychological health of those who suffer from it and for their families. Anorexia, Bulimia and Binge Eating Disorder, generate obsession with weight, image and diet.

General Psychiatry Unit (UPG)

When we talk about problems typical of a General Psychiatry Unit (UPG), we are referring to a wide range of difficulties that range from emotional management problems and anxiety, to high-risk behaviors. In any case, we will be facing difficulties that do not allow the adolescent to carry out the activities of his daily life.

Substance addiction

A fundamental characteristic of substance dependence is the appearance of a series of behavioral, cognitive and physiological symptoms that indicate that the patient continues to consume the toxic substance despite the appearance of significant problems related to it.

Methodology and functions of the Day Hospital

At Disconnected Day Hospital The patient is not a number, he is one more member of our house and we take care of him through a high level of demand and a lot of love.

Therapeutic group

The group is a fundamental part of the treatment. In it are created healthy links , respect, camaraderie, shame, social relationships, self-esteem…

Methodology in therapies

Group therapy takes place small groups separated by sex, age and problem. Topics that concern patients every day are addressed, setting goals and thus getting them to commit to change.
We focus on something different in our group therapies and it is the concept of mutual help, so they learn to help others while feeling helped. Thus, we manage to promote such important aspects as empathy, patience, active listening, tolerance.

The patient needs to feel close to their reference therapist, receive individual therapy and have the contact of the professional to ask for help when necessary.

One of the most important and significant areas for adolescents is their family. There they learn to relate, to communicate.

Family therapy is the space in which a family or some of its members meet, with the direct supervision of a therapist to help resolve emotional/psychological disorders that have any of its components.

The whole family benefits from these sessions, as individual and group problems are dealt with.

Therapeutic goals:

    • Family communication.
    • Family empathy.
    • Organization.
    • Coexistence.
    • The relations between the members.
    • Rules and limits.
  • Problem acceptance
  • Healthy and organized routine
  • Good family life
  • Control of emotions
  • Healthy habits: food, sports and studies
  • Maintain an active and healthy social life

Hospital de Día Desconect@ is aimed at all those patients who need comprehensive help, with direct control and supervision, due to the symptoms they present.

With this type of treatment, the patient can go to school if necessary. The treatment is totally individualized, because depending on the needs that each patient has, they will receive their therapeutic plan.
